SS7 Signaling Interface Unit
DSIU7100C and DSIU7200C are integrated Signaling Interface Unit (SS7) network interface components.
SS7 signaling is extracted from the E1 trunk into the system, in which case any voice circuits on the same trunks are passed transparently through the SIU to the E1 ports on the voice processing platforms. Signaling information is automatically distributed by signaling interface unit via TCP/IP LAN to one or more host application platforms.
Software driver are provided to enable the remote application to communicate with the protocols running on the DSIU. These driver are available for Windows NT, Windows 2000 and UNIX operating system platforms.
Two DSIU units can be configured to share the same SS7 point code, providing fully resilient operation within a single point code. In normal operation, signaling can be load-shared across the two units. If one unit fails, the remaining unit handles all signaling.
